Main Street, Small Town, New Zealand...

This week my little home town hosts the annual International 'sheep shearing' competition known as the Golden Shears. This year there are over 25 countries represented in the competition and it all happens right here in little old Masterton.

Have you ever had a large mob of sheep and dogs running down the main street where you live? Well I happened to catch that very thing happening down our main st this morning. Having just taken my son to the doctor and en route to the pharmacy we bumped right into it and boy was it exciting! I know this probably happens every year here, but due to work etc I never actually get to see it... I love Masterton!

Here are some picts from my iPhone... of the cute little parade down Queen Street...

WOOF WOOF! Get in behind! That'll do!!!

SUPER SUNDAY, thanks to Saturday night...

Inspiration for my Super Sunday's style post actually came from Saturday night's television line up; Sex and the City 2.

There are two dresses that Carrie wears in this movie that are pretty stunning.  The first is a pure orange double layered, pleated dress, it is wickedly maxi and obviously waaaaay too long but stunning nonetheless...

In this dress, Carrie takes a walk along the Abu Dhabi beach, the dress blissfully billowing in the hot dessert breeze... stunning cinematography.

At the end of the movie she is wearing a similar dress in the most beautiful GREEN and OMGsh! The camera drops to follow the hem of the dress as she turns the corner in her apartment, it trails long behind her, so gorgeous!

Soooooo....

...come Sunday morning I felt like wearing a lovely long dress (though not too long) with gorgeous colours... of course I'm no Carrie, as you can clearly see... but why would that stop me?

OUTFIT...
Dressthis is my favourite maxi dress that I picked up from Farmers (Department store) about 2 years ago, I still love it, its definitly a go-to-dress...
Shoes: I picked up these heels for $14 at the Number 1 Shoe Warehouse, (actually, I was inspired by Sex in the City 1 to buy these shoes) about 2 years ago.
Jacket: Grace Hill
Accessories: My fav A beautiful mess locket, a $1 thrifted belt, and lucky me my mummy's vintage crystal earrings...

I never wear a strapless or singlet style dress without anything underneath or over top... for me, modest is hottest and more is less... and really ladies, in serious objection to Trinny and Susannah... just because we have it, surely does not mean at all that we should flaunt it... do you agree?

Any-who... Look at my lipstick, usually I try to avoid pink lipstick, but with this outfit I thought I'd give it a chance and I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn't violently shocked with it... I think I could do it again, besides pink looks like the new red in lip shades...

Its amazing where you can find style inspiration, which movie inspired your style today?

Hope you've had a beautiful day, I have a dinner date with my friend Dawn on Thursday, I'll let you know all about it then.

Find joy in womanhood...

There are many great things about being a woman, we can laugh about those joys being a new pair of shoes or a new lipstick, but when you get down to it, there are many more deeper joys to be found in womanhood. Sometimes we take our womanhood for granted and it's easy to forget how special you are when lost within the daily grind of just 'keeping it together'.

Over the past several weeks I have bid farewell to three very different and very wonderful woman, the world is certainly poorer at their loss. I can look back at the lives of these three women and learn a lot just from the memory of them;
  • Patience.
  • Love.
  • Passion.
  • Vulnerability, it's ok to depend on someone else.
  • Joy in life, to always look on the bright side.
  • To be gentle and kind.
  • Service, when you're having a bad day, look around you and help someone else in need.
  • Believe in happy endings.
  • Don't give up easily, in fact don't give up at all, always pick yourself up with grace and If you can, help someone else up on your way.
  • Honesty is always the best policy, with others and yourself, in this manner it does not matter so much what others think of you as what you think of yourself.
  • Find joy in your motherhood, be proud of being able to bear children, love them no matter what, thats what we are born to do.
  • Lift each other as friends as sisters and as fellow women.
  • Stand up for what you love, live what you believe in.
What will people learn from my life when I'm gone, what will they remember from my memory? Hmmm!  Shudder to think really... haha!

Well its just a short post tonight but I want to leave you with this song from Alicia Keys...

Never forget, just like these three awesome women... we are "Superwomen."

SUPER PHOTOGRAPHY POST...

Sometimes you can drive or walk past something totally awesome and not even notice... I wonder how many people passed this gorgeous baby without batting an eyelid.

I spotted it right away and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to do a photography post...

I know that Mrs and Mr H, love Vespa's.  Can you imagine yourself roaming around Positano or Rocculumera on one of these?

Wearing a pair of 3/4 capri pants, a button down collared shirt with a  styley polka-dot silk scarf around your neck, funky sunnies and red lips... Work it GIRL!!!

Straight out of a vintage movie...

So Audrey...

Vroom, vroom, vroom!

I hope that these opportunities present themselves to me more often, or even more so, I hope that I notice these opportunities when they present themselves to me...

A genuine European vespa, right outside my neighbours house!

With NZ stickers... so cool!

Thanks for taking a look at my Vespa Super Photography post, theres no denying that Vespa's are totally iconic, they represent, fun, freedom, youth and relaxation...

SUPER SUNDAY...

Here is the latest instalment of Super Sunday Stylez and I'm excited about this one... This is one of the two dresses I brought from Fuzzy Vintage on Saturday.  The tag has been cut off which is a real shame I would have liked to be able to hunt down more of the same brand... I really like it...

I'm usually too shy to wear dresses this short so I will usually layer the length longer with my black mermaid skirt underneath... but I really like this dress and I didn't want to ruin it by taking away from the style or the fabric so I told myself 'suck it up' and slipped into my sweedish Hasbeens. I was pretty happy with the turn out... here is a close up un-edited pict... aren't the colours gorgeous... yes, they are...

So, I hope you like today's new venue for Super Sunday... my 12 year old  daughter usually takes these photos and we thought a new background was in order...

Do you love the caravan??? I wish it were mine... I have a serious thing for vintage caravans, if it were mine I would totally deck it out to look something like this... Constance

or this... Kiwi adventure caravan

Over the last few weeks I have been hitting the garage sales... next week I want to show you some great vintage things that I have been lucky to score... second hand shops are great.. but a good garage sale is even better... Look what I found last week...

A beautiful big vintage poster for the girls room... and look at the black kitten... it kinda reminds me of this...

Today, I took some photos of a cute vintage vespa that was parked outside the neighbours house, lucky me... I'm going to post those picts on Thursday, I reckon you will love them...

Hope you had a lovely day

Today is a good day...

The weekend was kicked off with a late night spa (jacuzzi) at the home of The Fantastic Mrs Fox on Friday night... mmm a lovely relaxing end of the week, and a good time to catch up with T.F.Mrs.Fox.

Of course we lamented the loss of a great diva Whitney Houston... no matter how her life ended or the way she lived it in the last ten or so years, there is no denying that she was the Beyonce of the 80's, so  T.F.Mrs.Fox and I decided to pay tribute to our fav 80's legend by visiting Greytown (The Turkey Red Bar) where our friend Dal was running karaoke.  We spent a couple of hours singing as many Whitney songs as we could... ending up with "I have nothing" that was fun!  Here it is, one of my favourite Whitney songs of all time, and I hope that she has finally found some peace.

This morning was a real treat, Mrs H and I met up in Carterton and here's how it went...

First it was a quick visit to a closing down antique store where Mrs H quickly spotted a beautiful kangaroo fur handbag.  We debated the whole fur thing and decided that because it was second hand buying it would be recycling and not actually encouraging the death of more animals  as you would by buying a new one... (interested in your thoughts though...) plus it was a second hand vintage handbag from the 1940's in near perfect condition and at 50% off? Bargain!

Then 3 stores up the street to the Wild oats for a little brunch...

But what to eat??? Hmmmm....

When we finally decided on what to eat, we needed to decided where to sit... out in the garden of course...

Mrs H chose a vegetarian muffin and a coffee....

And I picked a tuna melt and a lo-fat iced chocolate...Yum!

Then off to the Salvation Army... and I thought they didn't open on a Saturday... yay!

The great thing about Carterton is it's small... everything is only a stroll away from each other... The next shop we strolled into was Red Moa Gallery... Andrea (who we made friends with today...) has great stuff in here, real statement pieces... she stocks artist's such as Heather Wilson and Sam Ludden... We are hoping that soon she will start to stock some fantastic pieces from T.F.Mrs.Fox.

Finally off to our Favourite vintage shop Fuzzy... Mark really knows his vintage.   Mrs H got one dress and I got two!!!  And to think that I thought I wouldn't find anything in my size?!?!  Usually when I go shopping I try not to expect to find anything, that way if I don't find anything in my size or price range I'm not too disappointed... so of course we were both ecstatic after leaving Fuzzy... as you can imagine...

.... so we congratulated each other on our awesome finds and went our separate ways...

A great morning was quickly followed by a great afternoon...

I met up with Mr C and our kids at the A & P Show (fair) ... talk about FUN FUN FUN!!! The kids loved the bumper cars, the giant slide and the ghost train... Plus there were gorgeous chickens and puppies on sale! And what a hot, HOT day it was turning out to be!

Lunch consisted of hot dogs dipped in tomato sauce and lots of cold drinks...

We bumped into more friends at the show, the 'Optimus' Prime family, they suggested we should meet at the Mt Holdsworth river for a swim and a boot BBQ for dinner... so off we went...

WOW! what a busy and GREAT day!  Trust me when I say every Saturday is NOT like this, usually I stay home and clean or do other house-y things.  This was a really good day... Technically it's Sunday now, so my Saturday post is a day late, but I hope you enjoyed it anyway... I'm going to wear my new fuzzy dress to church tomorrow so you will see it on my Super Sunday Post which will be up on Tuesday... I better hit the hay...

Have a great rest of the weekend
