A 'Mrs' for 15 years!!!!

Yep that's right! Mr C and I celebrated our 15th Wedding Anniversary on Thursday...

It was a very quiet celebration, in fact I was running around trying to get my 1950's shoot to happen... and he didn't get back to town from the farm till a little later... so we didn't go anywhere or do anything and we totally accepted that...

After 15 years, well lets just say every day is a celebration... cheesy... yes! But everyone who's ever been married knows marriage is a mix of lots of hard work and great times... its definitely not something that just works itself out, you have to compromise, forgive and be grateful for the good times...

So everyday that you manage to stay married is a good day, who knows what's around the corner but for now... I'm a 15 years 'Mrs' and that's super cool...  So happy anniversary to us!

Hope your having a lovely weekend.  See you Tuesday

A DATE WITH THE 1950'S

So... I gave you a teeny weeny sneak peek at two of the picts from my 1950's photo shoot and I really wanted to share some more with you... As you can see, I didn't stick to any particular type of editing style, I was trying everything just to see which type I liked best...

I just love my two models, they were so fun and easy to work with... I hope they let me take more picts in the future, they are total naturals, eat your heart out New Zealand's Top Model...

Here are my favourites.  Enjoy.

My favourite part of the 50's is definitely the dresses... oh wait, I do love the cars... but wait, there's also the music...
Whats your favourite part of the 50's?

1950's

It's late... very late, I'm going to bed, but here is a sneak preview of what I've been up too... I hope I can submit my entry to the Square Affair 1950s Photography competition before the 5pm deadline tomorrow... I know... I'm late... I always am...

My models are not models.  Chloe and Jerome are just two totaly awesome people I know who agreed to help me out.  Add a beautiful 1950's Ford Bonus truck to the mix, (which belongs to some more friend's who came to help me out... all last minute I might add.) And voila! 1950's through your lens...

You see, I was going to drop out because I could'nt find the dress I envisaged for Chloe, but I found it... this afternoon... at the Salvation Army... total SCORE!!!

Big thanks to Miss Parnz who did a fantastic job of Chloes's make up and hair while I was altering the dress and cardigan... Good times man!!!

I'll put some more picts up as I finish editing them... I had FUN!
Goodnight

A sweet little birthday girl...

Today was my niece's 1st birthday party, so the kids and I took the 1 and a half hour drive over the Rimutaka hill to Kapiti Coast, Paraparaumu to celebrate with my sister and her little family...

I took my camera, but my sissy quickly presented me with their new Olympus ohhhh-ahhhh, nice!

This camera has an Art setting which means all the photos below were set on different Art options on the camera, meaning I didn't have to edit them once they got onto the laptop, this is how they were taken... very easy, although I must say I do like having a little bit of editing control.

That said, I did have lots of fun snapping away... Before we see what baby Elva thought of her day I want to show you these...

This is my handsome little nephew gladly demonstrating one of his Aunty's brilliant creations... it's a cupcake in an ice cream cone... my sister literally poured the cupcake mixture into the cone, and put them into the oven... isn't she a clever cupcake... she's never done it before so the were a little messy but... what a great idea!  And the kids thought they were awesome, along with many of the adults also... next time you make cupcakes try doing it in a cone...

Now back to the party girl and her thoughts of the day...

What a great day! Everyone is fussing over little old me! YAY!
These cookies are so good mama!
Boy! My cousin is handsome!
I just love pink!
I love my big cousin
Wait a minute! What's going on here?
Mmmmm, that is gooooood!
OHHHH! It's CAKE! This has got to be a staple food right?
Thank you for a lovely day mummy and daddy, YOU's ROCK!
I'll be ready for a nap soon!

Isn't she just lovely?
Yes... she is!
Have a beautiful weekend

OLD JACKET... NEW JACKET...

It was raining 2 days ago when I took these picts, this is a beautiful retro jacket with lovely aqua, turquoise, blues and greens in a funky geometric design, two square pockets which  proved very handy for Ifie and my keys...

I scored this last weekend (triathlon weekend) in Petone, at a great newly-fav store called Rebound...

At $11 it was a little bit pricey for an item from a 'second hand clothing store', as opposed to a 'specialist vintage and retro clothing boutique'... mind you the specialist shops would have had at least $29 on a jacket like this... the colours are awesome and the cut is flattering, just beautiful really!

And as usual it never ceases to completely amaze me when I find something gorgeous and vintage in my size... I'm always wearing the "WOHOO" facial expression at moments like these...

So, if you didn't know already I'm a HUGE fan of Harry Potter...  Yes!  I am!  I love the books, I love the movies , I'm a fan of the actors, I love Hogwarts,  I love Gryfindor, I love the cute  flying blue Ford Anglia on HP and the Chamber of Secrets and I could go on and on about the fantastic and amazing imaginings of JK Rowling, I mean, the girl has serious talent...

So when my sister told me about Rupert Grint's latest project with talented emerging artist Ed Sherran, of course I had to have a look and share it you all, its a very clever video and a big UPs for the red-heads of the world... I hope you enjoy it, I love it!....

WEEKLY WANDERING...
I've become the latest follower of Ana B, from Wellington I thinks she's beautiful and I love the stunning photography Rob D takes of her and their surroundings...

NEW SHOES...
Yes! I did! I ordered two pairs of shoes this week, they are both on the way and they are both clogs... Its the summer sales, they just get me everytime!  You know I love shoes, and its not very often that I will buy them but when I do, I'll admit I'll go a little crazy...
I found the perfect quote from Ana B to summarise the deeper feelings of shoe buying... secretly I suffer "middle class guilt about my obsessive consumer consumption"  Do you suffer from this?

Do have a lovely weekend...

A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS...

Ifie picts this week...

Remember I told you how I ran out and brought a white duvet cover after seeing Mrs Princess Pookie's  bedroom?  I have a small collection of old crochet blankets and I put this one on my bed while I am waiting for my new knitted blankie to be made... It's not quite as gorgeous as Princess Pookies' but I like it for now...

I had a Mum and Miss date with my own Mummy for lunch, we went to Thai Express... they were fast and yummy!

Miss Nay Nay, our 12 year old daughter made dinner... she put a clever twist on Shepherd's Pie... a yummy beef mince stew, with potato pom poms on top... mmmmm!

...she plated the meal with a helping of tomato sauce, a sprinkle of grated cheese and a slice of wholegrain bread... Well done Miss Nay Nay!

Ok, well you know I was meant to do a duathalon on Saturday, well I completely copped out... yes, I decided to not even give it a go.  Oh but don't worry I have a darn good excuse and here it is...

Yeh! Thats right... I climbed a freekin' mountain!!!  This on Friday and by Saturday I was honestly as stiff as a diving board and in some serious pain, every muscle in my body was totally hatin' on me by Saturday, in fact I couldn't sleep properly on Friday night, and Saturday night I almost took a painkiller but I toughed it out and by Sunday I felt pretty ok.

Here's some picts of my two little sisters bringing it home completing the TRIATHLON... They're totally awesome alright, and all the woman who complete these events are so inspiring...

AWESOME STUFF LADIES!!!

I have a photo shoot coming up with a couple of young 'hotties' so I can enter a shot in the Photography Competition which is going to be so exciting, the prize dosent excite me as much as having an actual photo in the comp...

my daughter wants to go to the cupcake decoration worskshop and I want to take my son to check out the Dr Seuss art exhibition.

So if you're anywhere near P Nth, I hope you get the chance to go and check it out... I'm definitly going to dress up, gloves, handbag and all... Hey, might see you there...

WORLD CHAMPION GOLDEN SHEARS 2012...

So do you remember the Mob of sheep running through town?  Down the middle of Queen St? (picts from Ifie)...

Well that week we were lucky enough to attend the finals night as an entertainment group for Kapahaka (maori performing arts).  We performed 2 haka (including the one done by the All Blacks) and 2 songs...  All this while a huge entourage of V.I.P's entered the venue... and we didn't realise that they were V.I.P as such until we took our seats and did some crowd scanning... and found a couple of the most notable including Prime Minister John Key, sitting with the Governor General Lt Gen Rt Hon Sir Jerry Mateparae... So that was pretty exciting... but what was even more exciting was that all our kids were up on stage performing with us, that makes me really proud as a parent that I can look around me on stage and see my whole family, being steadfast in our culture and willing and able to share it with others... Mr C is the guitarist for our little kapahaka group, so he's pretty V.I.P himself lol.  Here are a few more picts Golden Shears week... enjoy...

This is the 'Powhir'i - official welcome at the local Marae, a couple of the men folk have just finished the 'Wero', a challenge where a token is laid on the ground in front of the 'Manuhiri' (visitors) - if the visitors pick up the token they come in peace... if they don't pick it up or stand on it... there's trouble... it's pretty much symbolic these days but is an important part of the welcome.

Miss Parnz and I on our way to hit the stage... remember when I said I don't wear sleeveless tops etc?  I lied a little... because the exception is my 'professional cultural performance costume,  I think there is a definite difference between this and daily dressing... and it's usually only once a blue moon... what do you think?

The V.I.P's (in the first few rows) all seated and ready for some shearing action... Yes! we performed on stage in front of all these people... whoa!

The first competitors take to the stage, check their gear and wait for the green light, the men in blue are the judges or something like that... what I know for sure is they weren't shearing lol... in fact it was very professional and it has certainly 'classed' up a LOT since the last time we performed there 2 years ago... I mean 2 years ago they had the scantily clad 'Tui girls' take the boys to the stage, but look at the classy ladies this year... even bearing flags... Pretty flash alright!

The ladies in the pink are the 'Rousies', these chicks are professionals in their own right and they even have events for 'Rousie's' to compete in, these girls are some of the top in their field.

John Kirkpatrick of good old New Zealand was named World Champion for 2012... Good stuff Johnny!

All in all it was an extremely exciting evening which the whole family was able to enjoy... admittedly our 5 year old had counted all the sheep and was fast asleep by the time we left but she enjoyed herself on stage smiling for all the camera's I'll have to see if we can find some picts for you all... and while she was awake in the stands...  So I guess we look forward to next year's Golden Shears being even bigger and better huh...

Till then G.S
