An Overnighter...

So... its the school holidays... but because I don't work at school anymore, I don't get to have school holidays... what I get to have is annual leave and I'm overjoyed to be on annual leave right now YAY!

Thursday was ANZAC day and its always great to take time out of our busy everyday schedule's to stop, reflect and appreciate all those men and women who fought hard for our freedom.  My daughters, nieces and I got up early and went to the Dawn Ceremony.  The amount of children in attendance this year was inspiring enough to prompt the speaker to request a round of applause for the children.  It was quite moving.

Later on that day the 'C' family went to wellington.  I met up with a friend for a photo shoot... Caii-Michelle Gordon is a brilliant and well seasoned entertainer,
check her out here...

We spent the night at Wellington Top 10, which was really awesome... the family special included fun bikes, private spa booking, unlimited use of the games room and 1 hour's worth of free wifi!!! You should check this place out for a family night/weekend away...

Then we spent a bit of time on the Petone Pier...

To finish off our overnighter in Wellington we went to watch The Croods at Reading Courtenay

Then we picked up some Pizza from Tommy Millions... (yummm-oh!!!) and hit the road...

I feel like I've squashed two weeks worth of holidays into 2 days it was great... Back to work on Tuesday means I still have 2 days to holiday... bliss...

Take care

Super Sunday - Lady in Vintage Red...

Well winter is well and truly on the way... It was raining hard and I was happy to have the chance to finally wear this dress...  I LOVE this dress, the colour, the long sleeves, the high neck and the fabric.  I'm not sure how old it is but I was lucky enough to have been given this by one of my Nanny's... What do you think?

I also thought there are a few ways I could wear this dress... like one dress, three ways...

Mix-mash!  With my TCD black Nautical dress...

And... with my $5 vintage polka dot over vest.  I love this vest but I've never worn it yet... All of a sudden... light bulb!
I think it looks fab with this dress...

You know, to be brutally honest since I switched jobs I've been having a bit of trouble with my personal style... its frustrating, especially after finally becoming comfortable with it when I was at school.

Last week I was super lucky to be on the receiving end of a wardrobe clean out of a super generous, friend and colleague. I was astounded at the beautiful clothes that she was getting rid of... I love them and I'm going to do some post's called "Hand-me-over lovelies" which will be all about the stunning clothes that  I have been lucky to be given lately.
Exciting!!!

I'll keep you updated with my style dilemma as well, I'm hoping to get over that fairly soon, but with a change in season, comes another new change in wardrobe as well... plus I have way too many clothes and now I have no room in my wardrobe!  How can I have so many clothes and constantly have nothing to wear?!

My toes are freezing, I'm going to bed but I know there are a couple of little lumps there already.... My kids are my own personal bed warming hotties.

I have another shoot coming up soon, I'll let you know all about it...

Fashion Week Fav's

So... to bring my Fashion week experience with you to a close, I 've picked just a few of some of my favourite shots.  As you can see the right spot in the pit really makes a big difference.  My most favourite shots came from the Starfish show where I was pretty much front and centre.  This resulted in some great eye contact shots with the models which is something most runway photographers love!  Not to mention some of my fav outfits walked up the Starfish runway...

I've learnt so much with this experience and am really grateful to have had it.  In fact ever since I started working in Wellington (October 2012) my life has been opened up to some amazing opportunities and there may be more coming up.

Without further ado... my Fashion Week Fav's...

And one more thank you to my gorgeous friend and colleague Miss Alanna,  without whom, none of this would have happened...

I was having a look around the web for more on Fashion week and you might be interested in following some of these links for a little browse.

Most of the fashion week photos used in this
awesome blog were taken by me...

And a few of mine are in this great blog too...

I missed the bridal show - silently gutted about it!  But I told you about my new friend from the pit Dave (who loaned me his awesome lens for a show) well go and check him out.  This link here will take you straight to some of his stunning bridal show shots.

Well... I hope you enjoyed My Wellington Fashion week with me...

It's school holidays next week, and you know how much I used to love school holidays... sigh and boohoo!  I don't get to take them anymore, but I have applied for a couple of days annual leave and look forward to doing something special with Mr C and our kids...

I'm sorry I haven't had the time to post regularly here but when I do, and if you feel so inclined to visit, I hope that you enjoy it... till next time...

Wellington Fashion Week - Gloom Generation

So... what can I say about Jimmy D's gloomy show?

Let's just start with "very interesting".

In fact, out of the whole fashion week, this show had to be the definite winner of the Curves "most original" Award.
Firstly, there was no runway, so when I got there I thought, "ok, where shall I stand?" so I picked a little spot that just happened to be the wrong spot, lol! However, I actually really like how these photos turned out. The wrong spot in addition to the lighting, the style and the crowd all made for some really good and challenging shots. Needless to say this show was my most challenging shoot of the week. Not only did the models walk through the crowd and sit in a corner of the room (far away from me) doing "stuff", the venue was filled to capacity too...

Another good thing about this shoot was that I felt quite comfortable manipulating these in the editing suite, so not only was it a break from all the standard runway shots but they allowed me to be a bit more creative as well.

So what do you think?  Do you like gloom?
