Fashion Week Fav's

So... to bring my Fashion week experience with you to a close, I 've picked just a few of some of my favourite shots.  As you can see the right spot in the pit really makes a big difference.  My most favourite shots came from the Starfish show where I was pretty much front and centre.  This resulted in some great eye contact shots with the models which is something most runway photographers love!  Not to mention some of my fav outfits walked up the Starfish runway...

I've learnt so much with this experience and am really grateful to have had it.  In fact ever since I started working in Wellington (October 2012) my life has been opened up to some amazing opportunities and there may be more coming up.

Without further ado... my Fashion Week Fav's...

And one more thank you to my gorgeous friend and colleague Miss Alanna,  without whom, none of this would have happened...

I was having a look around the web for more on Fashion week and you might be interested in following some of these links for a little browse.

Most of the fashion week photos used in this
awesome blog were taken by me...

And a few of mine are in this great blog too...

I missed the bridal show - silently gutted about it!  But I told you about my new friend from the pit Dave (who loaned me his awesome lens for a show) well go and check him out.  This link here will take you straight to some of his stunning bridal show shots.

Well... I hope you enjoyed My Wellington Fashion week with me...

It's school holidays next week, and you know how much I used to love school holidays... sigh and boohoo!  I don't get to take them anymore, but I have applied for a couple of days annual leave and look forward to doing something special with Mr C and our kids...

I'm sorry I haven't had the time to post regularly here but when I do, and if you feel so inclined to visit, I hope that you enjoy it... till next time...

Wellington Fashion Week - Gloom Generation

So... what can I say about Jimmy D's gloomy show?

Let's just start with "very interesting".

In fact, out of the whole fashion week, this show had to be the definite winner of the Curves "most original" Award.
Firstly, there was no runway, so when I got there I thought, "ok, where shall I stand?" so I picked a little spot that just happened to be the wrong spot, lol! However, I actually really like how these photos turned out. The wrong spot in addition to the lighting, the style and the crowd all made for some really good and challenging shots. Needless to say this show was my most challenging shoot of the week. Not only did the models walk through the crowd and sit in a corner of the room (far away from me) doing "stuff", the venue was filled to capacity too...

Another good thing about this shoot was that I felt quite comfortable manipulating these in the editing suite, so not only was it a break from all the standard runway shots but they allowed me to be a bit more creative as well.

So what do you think?  Do you like gloom?

Wellington Fashion Week - Leotards and Shoes...

Miss Kathryn Wilson...

is one inspiring chick.  she's just your good old average kiwi chick with loads of creative ingenuity and a fierce love of shoes.  Oh... did I ever tell you how much I love shoes??? Well... I DO!!!

This show was held at the posh and beautiful BMW showroom in Kaiwharawhara and it was rocking!

I managed to get an 'ok' spot to the left of the runway... check these shots out...

To add to the glamour of this show, one lucky attendee walked off with a BMW for the weekend and a weekend in Martinborough, you know how I love Martinborough right? How super cool is that?  Unfortunately the winner was not me...  for some reason by the time this show was over I was starving and what do you know? Miss Wilson, a most gracious hostess, had delicious cakes and drinks for us hungry shoe-lovers!  Woohoo!

Thanks you for an exciting show!  I already know which pair/s I want thank you very much.

So?  What do you think of Miss Wilson's new season footwear?

My next post might freak you out a bit... it's a slice of gloom generation from Jimmy D.  I must admit that I just did not get this show or the style that was on display... but, DANG! the photos turned out GREAT!!!
